If they sync to themselves or the VM-host (and the VM-host in plow syncs with the DC) this can happen.
Have also had issues with time.microsoft.com (the default) previously, could have been sorted, but I use other NTP servers.

Is this over some VPN or MS direct admission?

Information technology sounds like the reckoner is joined to the domain, which is available when yous're at piece of work, only not at home.  I don't empathise why it isn't caching your user account though.  Are you using a VPN to get into the part network?   You may inquire I.T. if they've fabricated whatever changes that would not permit a user to log in when the domain is not available.

Nosotros are having the same issue as well. Some of the users who are using VPN are getting "The system could not log you on, the domain specified is not available. Delight try again"afterwards." and "The arrangement could non log you lot on. The smart carte document used for authentication has been revoked." Information technology is working fine before. Practice we have any fix for this yet? Th result seems to be intermittent at some point.
